Poker is a card game that has many variations, all of which share the same basic objective: to win the pot, which is the sum of all the bets that have been placed during a hand. Players do this by either having the best hand, or by betting enough that all the other players fold.
How to Play?
There are many different ways to play poker, but the most common is Texas Hold ’em. In this variation, each player is dealt two cards (known as hole cards), and then five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. The player with the best hand using any combination of their hole cards and the community cards wins the pot.

Basic rules of poker are simple:
Each player is dealt two cards, face down, and the player with the best hand wins the pot. The value of a hand is determined by the rank of the cards, with the highest-ranking hand winning.
- The two players to the left of the dealer must post blinds, or forced bets. The player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind, and the player to the left of the small blind posts the big blind.
- The dealer then deals two cards face down, to each player.
- The player to the left of the big blind must either call (match the big blind), raise (bet more than the big blind), or fold (give up their hand and not bet).
- If any player rises, the other players must either call or fold.
- The dealer then deals three community cards face up, in the middle of the table. These are known as the flop.
- The player to the left of the dealer must then bet, or check if no one has bet yet. If any player bets, the other players must call, rise, or fold.
- The dealer then deals a fourth community card, known as the turn. The betting then proceeds as before.
- If more than one player is still in the hand after the river, there is a showdown, where the players reveal their hands and the player with the best hand wins the pot.
- The hand is then over and the next hand begins, with the player to the left of the dealer becoming the new dealer.
